 PRINCIPALS’ REPORT

What a week! So many fun filled events at RGLPS this week. A big congratulations to our 2023 T-ball players. On Tuesday both our boys and girls teams represented Rosanna Golf Links Primary School at the State championships. Our girls team were State runners up and our boys finished 3rd in Victoria. Thanks to our coaches throughout the year who supported our students to develop tremendous skills in the sport, but also in the space of collaboration and sportsmanship. Most importantly, fun was had by all involved and I want to thank our teachers for supporting the students to have these incredible opportunities.

Celebrating Thom Jackson

I wanted to thank everyone in the community for the many touching tributes to Thom that we have received this week. In particular, the wear pink for Thom was a raging success. Don’t forget that Thom Jackson’s last Hurrah is being held next Friday afternoon. For the details and to RSVP please use the following link. Thomas Jackson’s Last Hurrah | Humanitix

Do remember that there is a variation to the school day on Friday the 15th of December with students concluding at 3:00pm. TheirCare is open from 3:00pm. Should you require the service please book online.

Christmas Carols on the Triangle

What a special night we had last night with carols on the triangle. It was lovely just to have an opportunity to wind down and socialise with our RGLPS families. While the delicious sausages and donuts will be quickly forgotten, the cheer and good spirits will be remembered for a long time to come.

Parent Payments 2024

Don’t forget our parent payments policy is up on Compass with information regarding 2024 products.

Opportunities for payment will be available on the 29th of January.

If you are in a position to support the school with a voluntary contribution, these have been itemised within the parent payment form for your convenience. As a government funded school there are limits to the extracurricular programs that we can provide for our students and these additional supports really strengthen those extracurricular opportunities.  Every donation is welcomed.

Please note the following timeline for collection.

Monday the 29th January

10:00 – 11:00 Prep pickup.

11:00 – 12:00 Year 1 pickup.

12:00 – 1:00 Year 2 & 3 pickup.

1:00 – 2:00 Year 4 pickup.

2:00 – 3:00 Year 5 and 6 pickup.

We are very flexible about these times and will have sibling items available at all times.

Orientation Day

A reminder that Monday the 18th of December is our whole school transition day. An alternative program will be provided for students who will not be attending RGLPS in 2024.

On the 18th our 2024 students will spend the day with their new teacher, in a classroom with their new classmates. We welcome the opportunity to support our students to feel safe and comfortable in their new spaces so that 2024 can start positively for them. This is especially important taking the context of our last few years into consideration.

Take care,

Christmas Picnic

Thank you to all for a wonderful, relaxed afternoon last night. It was great to see so many families coming together and enjoying the glorious weather and company. I tried to find Santa to request a present, however I couldn’t find him! It has been quite a while since our last picnic event, 2019 in fact. I spoke to many families who told me that this was their first Christmas picnic and that they really enjoyed it.

It got me to thinking about all of the amazing opportunities you have to engage with our school and community. Moving into 2024 we would love to see more parents, carers and grandparents helping out to build our school community. There are many ways to do this, through helping in our classrooms, volunteering around the school in the canteen, gardening or other school wide needs. The School Council is also another great way to become involved and help out. If you are able and wanting to help in any way at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team to talk about this further.

BYOD

We held our Bring Your Own Device information evening this week. The program will be in it’s second year of the project and being offered to next years Grade 3 students. By now families with a child in Grade 3 2024, should have received an email explaining the program from me, a voucher from Learning With Technologies (LWT) to help support families who choose to purchase our school recommended device and also a link to the recording from Monday’s session. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email or give me a call.

Lost Property

As you wander around the school, you would no doubt notice the amount of jumpers and hats laying around on the ground. I’m sure you would have noticed the lost property boxes overflowing also. I am looking for a few parents to help me sort this out and return the items back to their long lost owners! If you can spend an hour or so helping, please let us know. We would like to have this job complete before we break up for the holidays.
