Sport

Our school offers an extensive sporting program, and opportunities are offered for all students to participate, ranging from house athletics carnival to sports activities at lunchtime.

Our school is also actively involved in School Sport Victoria which provide students with opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports including, swimming, athletics, cross country, soccer, AFL, netball. Through School Sport Victoria, students can experience interschool sports events and pathways to higher-level competitions across Victoria.

The Heidelberg District Sporting Schools Association provide our senior students with an Inter-School Sport program to participate throughout the year in weekly competitions. Sports include AFL, Netball, Softball, Cricket.

Additionally, our school enters both junior and senior hoop time teams in the Basketball Victoria Hoop Time. This competition brings together students from across Victoria for a single-day round robin tournament held at local basketball stadiums.

Co-Curricular

Our Co-Curricular activities provide an opportunity for students to develop their skills in areas of personal interest and it facilitates student connectedness, learning engagement and achievement beyond the classroom.

Lunch Time Clubs

Our school provides students a vast choice of lunch time clubs to participate in, including Choir, Library, Gardening, Coding, GPO, Nature, Drawing, Running, Clean Up, Cooking, Dance Club/Perky Panda, Sports, Student Newsletter, Silent, Board Games, Art.

Tournament of Minds and International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)

Our school provides our students with the opportunity to participate in academic competitions including Tournament of Minds and ICAS.

Tournament of Minds is a problem solving program for teams. Teams are required to solve demanding, open-ended challenges from one of the following disciplines: The Arts, STEM, Language Literature, Social Sciences. Tournament of Minds is an opportunity for students with a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way.

ICAS is an online academic competition that is designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Digital Technologies.  Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development.

Instrumental Music Program

Our band program offers students in Years 3 to 6 the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments including woodwind, brass, percussion, and electric bass, while developing valuable skills in teamwork, discipline, and performance. Students participate in small group tutorials and weekly rehearsals, progressing through different band levels and performing in concerts throughout the year.

Our piano program offers students in Years 1 to 6 the opportunity to develop their musical skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Students enjoy half-hour lessons during the school day and can showcase their progress at our bi-annual Piano Festival performances.
